The Limits of External Validation
For twelve years, she ran a highly profitable compliance consultancy. She told healthcare providers exactly how to meet strict regulatory standards. She built a formidable reputation on rules, audits, and external validation. Then, she walked away from it all. The business worked perfectly, but the work no longer excited her. The changes the CQC made to application format made it very stressful; to keep her health, she decided the best action was to walk away.
A New Kind of Governance
Taruna Chauhan is an Inner Wisdom Coach and the founder of her own independent coaching practice. She spent decades mastering clinical governance and operational compliance within the United Kingdom healthcare sector. Now, she teaches leaders and individuals how to govern themselves from the inside out.
Building Excellence in High-Stakes Environments
Her professional foundation was poured in environments where mistakes cost lives. At UHCW NHS Trust, she managed quality for the Haematology department. She aligned national standards for the stem cell transplant program. The work required an absolute obsession with detail. She successfully project-managed the speciality’s move to a new hospital facility. This ensured seamless continuity of care during a highly complex transition.
She later moved to Birmingham Children’s Hospital Foundation Trust as a Quality and Accreditation Manager. Her mandate was to implement an electronic quality management system. She evaluated vendors, negotiated terms with an £8,000 budget, and rolled out the software. The project succeeded on paper. But the experience fundamentally shifted her perspective on organizational change.
“In hindsight, instead of purchasing a new system, it would have been better to use what was in place with some tweaking,” Chauhan reflects. “What was needed was more conversations about how we could have used it for our needs rather than what it had been used for.”
That realization planted a critical seed. The best software cannot fix broken human communication. She launched T Chauhan Consultancy Limited in 2012 to help healthcare providers navigate Care Quality Commission standards. The firm thrived for over a decade. Yet, she kept seeing leaders implement perfect strategies and still fail. The external systems were flawless. The internal systems were collapsing. The work no longer made her heart sing.
Rewriting the Rules of Personal Transformation
Today, Chauhan operates entirely outside the traditional compliance structure. She closed her consultancy to focus on the human element that strict protocols ignore. Her coaching practice serves women, clinic managers, and individuals facing intense personal or professional transitions. She rebranded her entire approach to focus on deep personal development.
Her focus is on qualitative, lasting change rather than mere metric tracking. “I discovered that we can all tap into our inner wisdom, and sometimes we need help, and that’s where my coaching comes in,” she explains. “The results are not always quantifiable when you’re coaching; it is many times a change in perspective, or a change of emotions.”
This shift in perspective drives her work with healthcare leaders. She saw firsthand how clinical managers crumbled under regulatory pressure. The solution was not another operational spreadsheet. It was a completely different approach to authority and team management.
“Managers can use many strategies they are given; however, without the right mindset, the strategy won’t work,” Chauhan notes. “I found I needed to learn about emotional intelligence to do well in my leadership roles. When I did not bring this in, I failed.”
She applies this same philosophy of internal alignment to physical health. When diagnosed with pre-diabetes, she refused to accept standard medical advice that ignored her cultural heritage. She built a different protocol. She developed her 21-day Sprint Programme to help others achieve the same results.
“I did not want to give up my Indian food, so I found ways to add items like salads on the side,” she says. “Have chapattis made with multigrain flour. Habit consistency is what helped.”
She reversed her condition and documented her approach in her electronic book, where she put all her learning. The FRESH approach your key to a healthier life
FRESH Framework
- Food Swaps and Meal Planning
- Reset Habits
- Evaluate Values
- Spot Gaps (Gap Analysis)
- Healthy Movement
She proved that you do not have to erase your cultural identity to improve your health metrics. Her clients now achieve similar results. They reach their goals without sacrificing who they are. They follow her Wisdom Navigator Framework, a highly structured approach that demands deep self-management and rigorous execution. The results are undeniable. The exact mechanics of how she rewires these ingrained habits, however, remain reserved for her private clients.
Her recipe book came out of her realisation that all her mum’s pickle recipes had been lost because they were never written down. Her mum held all her recipes in her head. Taruna had never sat down and written the recipes. That realisation made her want to preserve her family’s and cultural recipes; she converted the recipes from her head into writing, then tested them and wrote her book. Preserving traditional Diwali recipes was important to her.
The Ultimate Authority
She spent the first half of her career ensuring organizations met the demands of external authorities. She walked away from that success because she recognized its limits. Rules can force compliance, but they cannot generate fulfilment. Taruna Chauhan now builds frameworks that help people answer to themselves. True authority never comes from a checklist.
