Doris Martinez and the Rise of LatinoCircuit

Who Is Doris Martinez?

Doris Martinez is an experienced media leader and founder of LatinoCircuit TV, a bilingual FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV) platform amplifying Latino talent and stories across the U.S. and beyond. With over 18 years of experience in the Hispanic media industry, Doris has led programming, acquisition, and content strategy for powerhouse networks including HBO and DIRECTV Latin America, before launching her own ventures through DFEZ Content Management.

Doris works at the intersection of media and community, supporting independent creators and partnering with local organizations to bring meaningful screenings and conversations to New Jersey. By curating events with talent talkbacks, she helps create spaces where Latino stories can be shared, celebrated, and connected with audiences in authentic ways. Through her platform, she continues to champion independent media as a vital space for representation and dialogue.

A Platform Born from Purpose

When Doris Martinez launched LatinoCircuit TV, it wasn’t just another streaming platform entering a crowded digital market, it was a declaration. A declaration that Latino stories matter, that bilingual voices deserve mainstream amplification, and that representation is not a buzzword, but a responsibility. Built on nearly two decades of experience navigating and shaping the U.S. Hispanic media landscape, Doris’s journey is one of vision, persistence, and cultural impact.

Her rise from programming strategist to media entrepreneur wasn’t linear , it was forged through navigating industry silos, pushing boundaries, and asking better questions: Where are our stories? Who decides what gets seen? How do we create space rather than wait for it to open?

Through these questions, Doris created not only a career, but a legacy-in-progress.

The Spark Behind the Signal

Raised in a bilingual environment that seamlessly blended heritage and ambition, Doris learned early that language is power, and storytelling is the key to community.

She began her academic path with a BA in Economics from Hunter College, grounding her in analytical thinking and business acumen. That foundation was sharpened with a Master’s in Communication and Media Studies from Fordham University, and later expanded through executive education at Harvard Business School, where she earned a certification in Strategic Marketing Management.

These credentials, however, tell only part of the story. Her real education came from working inside the machine , decoding how media is shaped, who it reaches, and what’s missing from the narrative. For Doris, the answer was clear: bilingual, bi‑cultural Latinos, Americans with strong Latino roots or Latinos deeply connected to U.S. culture, were too often overlooked. Their voices were missing from programming decisions, boardrooms, and executive tables, underscoring the need for platforms like LatinoCircuit TV.

From HBO to Her Own Stage

Doris’s career in television began at HBO, where she entered in junior roles assisting teams in Finance and later in Sports. Curious about how programming decisions were made, she transitioned into the content side of the business, first as a coordinator and eventually rising to managerial positions. As Manager of HBO Latino and HBO Multi‑plex, she guided prime‑time programming strategy, championed Latino content across platforms, and worked hand‑in‑hand with multicultural marketing, acquisition, and stakeholder teams. What began as behind‑the‑scenes support evolved into shaping the cultural footprint of one of the world’s most influential networks.

“We weren’t just curating shows , we were shaping how culture showed up on screen,” she shared in a recent post reflecting on her programming years.

She later advanced to Senior Content & Programming Manager at DIRECTV Latin America, where she oversaw content acquisition, partnerships, and operations. She managed relationships with first- and second-tier programmers, securing deals and building pipelines of culturally resonant content.

These roles sharpened her negotiation skills, strategic planning abilities, and deepened her understanding of the media ecosystem. But even at the helm of major networks, Doris felt the limits of operating inside existing structures.

So, she built her own.

LatinoCircuit TV and Cultural Storytelling at Scale

In 2023, Doris founded LatinoCircuit TV, a bilingual streaming platform dedicated to celebrating Latino creativity and identity. Designed as a FAST channel, LatinoCircuit brings independent Latino creators, filmmakers, and stories into the digital mainstream. It reflects not only Doris’s professional evolution but her personal mission

To ensure Latino voices are not filtered, but featured.

Doris has built strong relationships with leading non‑profit organizations, partnering on cultural screenings and events that elevate vital discussions on identity, art, and community—ensuring that what audiences see on screen authentically reflects their experiences. This includes screenings of critically acclaimed titles featuring award‑winning and renowned talents, further amplifying the cultural impact and resonance of these conversations. She is also excited to be in conversations with higher‑education institutions to expand LatinoCircuit TV’s role in hosting these cultural events and fostering dialogue that amplifies Latino voices.

Doris has also hosted high-profile events such as the Patria y Vida screening with Grammy-winning artist Yotuel, spotlighting the intersection of music, activism, and freedom. Her platform has become both a business and a cultural engine, a space where storytelling meets movement-building.

“This isn’t just a channel,” she says. “It’s a space for cultural resilience, bilingual expression, and community power.”

Doris’s reach extends beyond programming. She frequently engages in mentorship opportunities, such as volunteering for Braven’s mock interviews at Rutgers University and City College of New York, and is thrilled to soon begin participating as one of their Leadership Coaches. She is also excited to be joining the HISPA program in New Jersey as a role model, furthering her commitment to inspiring and empowering the next generation of Latino leaders.

Redefining the Media Future

For Doris Martinez, this is just the beginning.

She continues to expand LatinoCircuit TV’s reach through strategic partnerships with platforms such as Freebie TV, FLOUtv, WISP TV, Whale TV+, SteaMix, FreeCast, and wedotv, among others—and is excited to be in conversations with other prospective media partners, ensuring that bilingual content is not confined to niche audiences but embraced by global platforms

As a leader, she combines creative instinct with strategic rigor, driven by the belief that inclusive media can transform societies. Her team reflects this ethos, multicultural, forward-thinking, and relentlessly committed to telling stories that matter.

“Somos All Of Us,” Doris posted in celebration of LatinoCircuit TV’s official launch. The phrase isn’t just a tagline — it’s her compass. A belief that representation is collective, and that every voice amplified makes the narrative richer, truer, and more complete.

A Circuit That Connects Us All

Doris Martinez has built more than a media brand, she’s built a cultural force that amplifies Latino experiences and sparks vital conversations across communities and platforms

Through her leadership, LatinoCircuit TV is redefining bilingual storytelling, democratizing media access, and creating lasting opportunities for underrepresented voices. Her career, marked by intention and innovation, continues to inspire a new generation of content creators, executives, and culture-shapers.

As streaming evolves and audiences demand more authenticity, one thing is clear:

Doris is not following the signal, she’s sending it.
