From the Diary Of

Carrie Cihasky

I was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI but have lived throughout the midwest (Minneapolis, Indianapolis, and now Chicago) and studied abroad in London, England.  I started event planning in college with small and large scale events and learned a lot from logistics, emergency planning, sponsorship, setting and operating within a set budget and how to create a memorable experience that people want to return the next year.  It was always something “fun” for me to do, I didn’t think one could make a career of it.  After college I took a year off and worked for a Chamber of Commerce but then went to Graduate School for Political Science.  After teaching for several years, I was very unhappy with my career path and knew I didn’t want a job in politics, so I pursued event planning positions.  At the age of 30 I had to start completely over in building my career with an entry level position at the American Cancer Society but it was completely worth it.  I love that my day is never the same in non profits and have been able to participate in some very cool and unique events.
