The People She Never Forgot
Over the course of her career, Leslie Peirez has interviewed celebrities, worked alongside some of the most recognizable names in media, and helped build content for major television networks, digital platforms, and global brands.
From Beyoncé and Lady Gaga to President Bill Clinton and the late Valentino, Leslie has built a reputation for putting even the most high-profile guests at ease. Her genuine curiosity and conversational style often lead to candid moments that reveal the person behind the public image.
Yet the story that left the deepest mark on her had nothing to do with fame.
It was a conversation with a mother named Cindy Kerr.
Kerr founded Ryan’s Case for Smiles, then known as ConKerr Cancer, after her son Ryan was diagnosed with cancer. When Peirez interviewed the family, they had recently learned that Ryan’s condition would dramatically alter the course of their lives. The grief was unimaginable. Yet instead of retreating inward, the family chose to focus on helping other children and families facing similar circumstances.
For Peirez, the experience changed something fundamental.
“The stories that have had the greatest impact on me have never been about fame. They’ve been about real people facing extraordinary challenges.”
That moment became a reminder of why storytelling matters. Beyond ratings, headlines, and celebrity interviews lies something far more powerful: the ability to help people feel seen, understood, and connected.
It is a belief that has guided her career for more than two decades.
Where Curiosity First Took Center Stage
Long before she stepped into television studios and production meetings, Peirez was growing up on Long Island, New York, immersed in two worlds that would shape her future.
One was competitive horseback riding. As an accomplished equestrian, she competed in major show jumping events throughout the East Coast. The sport demanded discipline, patience, preparation, and resilience. Success was earned one practice, one setback, and one improvement at a time.
The other world was storytelling.
As a young girl, she admired pioneering journalists such as Barbara Walters and Diane Sawyer. She was fascinated by their ability to connect with people and uncover stories that mattered.
What began as admiration soon became aspiration.
She wanted to understand people. She wanted to learn what motivated them. Most of all, she wanted to tell stories that revealed something meaningful about the human experience.
Looking back, those childhood interests formed the foundation of her leadership style. Curiosity became a habit. Listening became a skill. Human connection became the thread tying everything together.
From Television’s Biggest Stages to a Broader View of Influence
After earning her degree from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Peirez entered the media industry and steadily built a career that would place her at the center of some of television’s most recognized brands.
Her work has included NBC’s TODAY Show, THE MARTHA STEWART SHOW, THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW, The Chew, Amazon, Yahoo, Warner Bros. Discovery, PBS, and numerous other media ventures.
The success of her work on THE MARTHA STEWART SHOW and NBC’s TODAY helped establish her reputation as a producer capable of handling large-scale productions, complex storytelling, and high-profile talent. That reputation eventually led to her recruitment to Chicago, where she joined THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW during its final three seasons, contributing to some of the most memorable productions in the program’s history.
In many ways, the Kerr family story became an important turning point during this period of her career. It reinforced the responsibility that comes with telling someone else’s story and strengthened a belief that would continue to guide her work long after moving on to larger platforms and productions.
To an outside observer, the story might appear to be one of increasingly larger platforms and greater visibility.
Yet Peirez views it differently.
Each opportunity expanded her understanding of audiences. Every production offered a new lesson in communication, trust, and engagement. Working with influential personalities taught her how powerful stories can shape conversations. Producing content across television, digital media, branded experiences, and podcasts taught her how quickly audience expectations evolve.
Most importantly, it reinforced a lesson she continues to carry forward today.
“The most powerful stories are not always about the most famous people. They are about humanity, resilience, love, and purpose.”
That realization transformed her from someone who produced content into someone who understood the responsibility behind it.
Why Platforms Change but People Don’t
Few professionals have witnessed the evolution of media as closely as Peirez.
She has worked through the rise of digital publishing, social media, streaming platforms, e-commerce content, podcasts, and audience-driven experiences. Entire industries have shifted around her.
Yet despite these changes, she believes the core principles of storytelling remain remarkably consistent.
“Great storytelling isn’t about the platform or technology. It’s about understanding people.”
In a world where audiences have endless options competing for their attention, authenticity has become increasingly valuable.
Peirez believes many organizations focus heavily on content creation while overlooking a more important skill: listening.
The strongest content leaders observe cultural shifts, audience behavior, emerging needs, and changing expectations. They understand that storytelling is no longer a one-way conversation. Audiences want participation. They want relevance. They want connection.
Technology may continue to evolve, but human nature moves far more slowly.
That reality has become one of the defining principles behind her work.
Building Stories That Deserve Attention
Today, Peirez works with executives, entrepreneurs, organizations, and brands to develop content, strengthen brand positioning, and bring new ideas to life across multiple platforms.
Her experience spans television, digital media, podcasts, live events, branded content, and emerging formats. Whether launching a new show, helping build a media platform, developing original programming, or advising leadership teams on audience engagement, she approaches every project through the same lens.
Is the story worth telling?
“If a story has the potential to make someone think, feel, learn, or take action, then I believe it’s worth telling.”
That philosophy has helped guide projects ranging from large-scale media productions to purpose-driven initiatives designed to educate, inspire, and create lasting audience relationships.
As organizations increasingly compete for attention in crowded markets, leaders who can translate complex ideas into compelling stories have become more valuable than ever.
Peirez sits at the intersection of those worlds. She understands both the creative and strategic sides of communication, helping organizations shape narratives that resonate long after the first impression.
The End of the Beginning
One quote has stayed with Peirez throughout her life.
Introduced to her by her father when she was young, Winston Churchill’s words continue to serve as both motivation and perspective:
“Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”
The quote resonates because it recognizes a truth that many accomplished professionals eventually discover. Success is rarely a destination. Every achievement creates the foundation for the next challenge, the next opportunity, and the next chapter.
For Peirez, that mindset remains as relevant today as ever.
After more than twenty years in media, she continues to seek out fascinating people, meaningful projects, and opportunities to help organizations strengthen their connection with the audiences they serve.
The spotlight may capture attention, but the stories behind it are what people remember.
