I had the honour of working with Gene during the Business Agility Conference in NYC where he was facilitating. His experience and expertise in leading executives through complex topics (such as organisation design and leadership agility) for the benefit of all was instrumental to the success of the event. We couldn't have done it without him.

As PMINYC's Agile Program Manager, Gene champions the pragmatic use of lean agile project management and software development techniques for the benefit of the entire NYC agile community. He shares his deep and broad knowledge of concepts, best practices and tools on a regular basis. He has developed some innovative formats for chapter events, including team learning and panel discussions that have been well received by PMINYC members. Gene helps people take their agile knowledge to a higher level by speaking about hybrid agile approaches such as Scrumban. He appreciates that implementing agile in any organization requires strong commitment and transformation in order to make sustainable, permanent change a reality. It's been a privilege to work with him as a volunteer for the Agile program!

Gene is a knowledgeable Agile Practitioner and motivated volunteer for PMINYC. He managed our monthly chapter meetings for about two years bringing in interesting and high-quality speakers for the benefit of our members.

Because of his passion for Agile and the growing interest in the chapter, he proposed that the chapter start an Agile program that would focus on bringing Agile speakers and training to the chapters' members. He started with informal networking sessions, which have been very successful and well-attended. He is now working to take this to the next level and bring some of the top experts in Agile to the chapter as speakers and trainers.

Gene's efforts on behalf of the chapter and the membership, led me to select him for the 2011 President's Award for Volunteer of the year.
