Genevieve Fom: Better Workdays Are the Foundation of Better Patient Care

Founder, Radiantwell Consulting | Family Nurse Practitioner | Healthcare AI Strategist | Advisor on Workflow Design, Clinician-Centered AI, and Healthcare Transformation

A Different Starting Point for Healthcare Innovation

Healthcare has never had more technology. Artificial intelligence is reshaping clinical documentation, decision support, diagnostics, scheduling, and countless other aspects of patient care. Across the industry, healthcare organizations continue investing in digital transformation, hoping technology will reduce administrative burden, improve efficiency, and strengthen patient outcomes.

Genevieve Fom believes many organizations begin in the wrong place.

Before asking which technology to implement, she believes healthcare leaders should first understand the work that technology is entering. That simple shift changes the conversation from software to people, from implementation to preparation, and from efficiency alone to the quality of care clinicians can provide.

As Founder of Radiantwell Consulting, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Healthcare AI Strategist, Genevieve advises healthcare organizations on one of the most important questions facing modern healthcare: how to ensure technology strengthens clinical work instead of adding to its complexity. Her work sits at the intersection of workflow design, leadership, and responsible AI implementation, helping executives evaluate whether technology truly supports the people expected to use it.

For Genevieve, better technology has never been the destination.

Better workdays are.

Curiosity Became Her Greatest Advantage

Genevieve grew up in Cameroon, often called “Africa in miniature” because of its extraordinary cultural diversity and landscapes. She began her education in a French-speaking school system before continuing her academic and professional path in the United States, where she earned her nursing and advanced practice degrees.

Living across two continents, two languages, and two healthcare systems shaped more than her career. It shaped the way she thinks about leadership.

She learned that while healthcare systems may differ, people consistently need the same things: to be heard, supported, and given the opportunity to do meaningful work.

One childhood experience continues to influence her today. At a time when internet access was still uncommon in her community, she suddenly found herself connected to ideas, careers, and possibilities far beyond what she had imagined.

That experience reinforced a lesson she still carries into every engagement.

“Every meaningful change in my life began with learning to see the world differently. Better decisions begin with better perspectives.”

Today, whether she is helping healthcare executives evaluate AI or redesign clinical workflows, that same curiosity remains at the center of her approach. She believes meaningful transformation begins by understanding people before technology.

The Question That Changed Everything

After more than a decade working across emergency care, urgent care, and family practice, Genevieve developed a deep appreciation for the realities clinicians face every day. She experienced firsthand the constant balance between patient care, documentation, decision-making, and operational demands.

One moment permanently changed the direction of her career.

Following a successful Code Blue resuscitation, she realized she had spent considerably more time documenting the event than caring for the patient.

The experience left her with a question she could not ignore.

“If clinicians are spending more time serving documentation than serving patients, what problem are we really trying to solve?”

That moment fundamentally changed how she viewed healthcare innovation.

Over the years, she watched healthcare organizations introduce new technologies, including artificial intelligence, with the hope of reducing administrative burden. Yet many initiatives struggled, not because the technology failed, but because it was layered onto workflows that were already fragmented, interrupted, and cognitively demanding.

For Genevieve, the challenge was never simply adopting new technology.

It was redesigning the systems surrounding it.

Changing the Questions Healthcare Leaders Ask

Many organizations evaluating artificial intelligence begin with a familiar question.

Will this work?

Genevieve believes there is a far more important question.

Will this work here?

That single word changes everything.

Every healthcare organization has its own culture, leadership priorities, clinical workflows, staffing realities, and operational challenges. Technology that performs exceptionally well in one environment may struggle in another, even when nothing about the technology itself has changed.

Successful AI implementation is rarely determined by how advanced the technology is. It is determined by how well it aligns with the people and workflows it is intended to support.

That philosophy has become the foundation of her advisory work.

Rather than beginning with technology, she encourages healthcare leaders to evaluate how care is actually delivered, where unnecessary cognitive burden exists, where clinicians lose valuable time, and whether new technology will simplify work or simply automate existing inefficiencies.

“Healthcare organizations rarely have AI problems. More often, they have workflow problems that AI either exposes or amplifies.”

By shifting the conversation from technology to work design, Genevieve helps healthcare leaders make decisions that create sustainable improvements rather than temporary solutions.

Protecting the Most Valuable Resource in Healthcare

Throughout Genevieve’s work, one idea continues to surface.

The most valuable resource in healthcare is not technology.

It is clinician attention.

Every interruption, unnecessary click, fragmented workflow, and administrative demand competes with the attention clinicians need to think clearly, exercise sound judgment, and care for patients.

For that reason, she believes clinician-centered AI is fundamentally a leadership conversation rather than a technology conversation.

Healthcare organizations should not measure success by how much AI they implement.

They should measure success by whether clinicians have more time to think, care, and connect with patients because of it.

“Technology should fit the work, not force the work to fit the technology.”

When organizations begin by understanding the work itself, AI becomes an enabler of stronger workflows, better clinical decisions, and healthier work environments instead of another source of complexity.

Building a Future Where Technology Serves Care

Through Radiantwell Consulting, Genevieve works with healthcare executives navigating one of the most significant transformations in modern healthcare. Drawing on years of frontline clinical experience, she helps organizations evaluate AI through the lens of workflow, leadership, clinician capacity, and long-term operational sustainability.

Her philosophy remains remarkably consistent regardless of the technology involved.

“Technology should serve the human, not the human serving technology.”

For Genevieve, every technology decision is ultimately a human decision. The future of healthcare will not be defined by the organizations that adopt the most artificial intelligence. It will be shaped by the organizations that use technology to reduce cognitive burden, protect clinician attention, and create better workdays for the people delivering care.

Because better workdays have never been the final goal.

They have always been the foundation of better patient care.
