The Expat’s Advocate: How Arielle Tucker is Rewriting the Rules of Global Wealth

Founder & Cross-Border Strategist | CFP, EA | Empowering U.S. Expats to Build Wealth and Navigate Complex Tax Landscapes Across Borders

In 2011, Arielle Tucker made a decision that would redefine her life and eventually the lives of thousands of Americans living overseas. She moved abroad. What she expected was an adventure; what she found was a fragmented, confusing financial landscape that seemed designed to penalize the “globally curious.” For Arielle, the lack of a roadmap wasn’t a deterrent, it was a call to action.

Today, as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and IRS Enrolled Agent (EA), Arielle has transformed her own “figure it out” moment into a specialized mission. As the founder of Connected Financial Planning and the creator of the Passport to Wealth platform, she is no longer just navigating the complexities of cross-border life, she is building the infrastructure to ensure no American has to do it alone.

Arielle’s story begins far from the high-stakes financial hubs of Zurich or Berlin. Born in Rochester and raised in Western New York, she grew up on a small family flower farm and winery. It was here, amidst the seasonal cycles of planting and harvest, that she learned the quiet strength of entrepreneurship. “Growing up on a small family farm taught me early on about hard work, resilience, and the importance of building something that lasts,” Arielle reflects.

“There was a strong sense of independence and practicality; if something needed to be done, you figured it out.”

This “roll-up-your-sleeves” philosophy became her internal compass. After earning her degree in Business Management and Entrepreneurial Studies from Paul Smith’s College and later completing her financial planning rigors at Bryant University, Arielle carried that farm-bred work ethic into the corporate world. But it was her move to Europe that provided the ultimate pressure test for her skills.

Transitioning to life abroad, Arielle quickly realized that traditional financial advice stops at the water’s edge. She spent years working across “Big 4” accounting firms, fintech startups, and boutique wealth management, gaining what she calls a behind-the-scenes look at “how the sausage is made.” She witnessed firsthand where incentives became misaligned and how often “products,” rather than “people,” drove recommendations. This period was pivotal. It revealed a glaring gap: Americans abroad were being sold expensive, offshore savings plans simply because they didn’t know other options existed.

In 2022, Arielle launched Connected Financial Planning with a clear, fiduciary mandate: to put the person before the portfolio. Her firm specializes in the intricate U.S. European corridor, helping clients navigate the “alphabet soup” of cross-border finance, RSUs, PFICs, FATCA, and foreign pensions. By combining technical tax mastery with holistic planning, she gave her clients something rare in the international space: permission to focus on living their lives rather than fearing their tax returns.

Arielle’s impact extends far beyond one-on-one consulting. Recognizing that she could never personally meet the global demand for ethical advice, she founded Passport to Wealth. What began as a podcast to share real stories of financial independence abroad has evolved into a comprehensive educational platform and a vetted directory of cross-border experts. “I wanted to create something that addressed the gap without compromising standards or integrity,” she explains. Her philosophy is grounded in the belief that

“Expat life isn’t easy, but neither is staying stuck in a life that doesn’t align with your values. Choose your hard.”

Her work is a blend of high-level strategy and deep empathy. Former colleagues describe her as the “glue that keeps the team together,” noting her “positive can do attitude” and a level of integrity that makes her someone clients and peers instinctively trust. Whether she is contributing to Bloomberg, appearing in Forbes, or speaking on her podcast, her message remains consistent: building a life abroad should be a source of freedom, not a financial penalty.

Looking ahead, Arielle is focused on “democratizing” access to cross-border expertise. With a book slated for release in late 2026 and new educational courses in development, she is providing the playbook she wished she had back in 2011. Her ultimate goal is to advocate for residence-based taxation, a policy shift that would recognize the fundamental humanity of Americans living overseas.

Arielle Tucker’s legacy is not just found in tax savings or optimized portfolios; it is found in the confidence of the families she serves. She has proven that while the systems weren’t designed for a global life, with the right guidance, a global life can be the most rewarding one of all.

Arielle Tucker’s journey reminds us that the most meaningful careers are often born from our own greatest challenges. By turning personal “overwhelmed” moments into a platform for global empowerment, she has set a new standard for fiduciary care in the expat community.
