It’s not a book but my favorite book series are from Phillpa Gregory, who is both a fictional writer and historian. She has a series where she starts with the War of the Roses (medeivel England) and goes through Queen Elizabeth I, but she writes from the perspective of the women in history. All too often, historians neglect the important role women play, especially in medevil times, so she does a great job taking what we know about the women historically, and tries to understand what it was like in their shoes. I love historical books over fiction because to me, real life is more fascinating than fiction, so it’s an interesting way to learn more about these women in history I didn’t know too much about, but also gain an appreciattion for how hard it was for women then. You realize how far we’ve come, but also see how some of the struggles we deal with in the workforce aren’t so different.
