Alain had a profound influence on encouraging innovation at Motorola. His very broad knowledge and ability to grasp the implications of new revolutionary technological application concepts, even though they could be quite complex, was a direct inspiration to me and our subsequent collaboration on championing and developing a new service oriented cellular and wireless network framework. I have the highest regard for Alain's technological insights and his perspective of their value to society and human beings. 

Though he may not have been the “ranking” staffer in the Spacenet Systems Development group, Alain often led our award winning, international development teams through difficult technical challenges. He did it by the strength of his intellect, the clarity of his vision, his respect for co-workers and his legendary team-building sense of humor. Now fifteen years later, I still occasionally enjoy the compendium of inside jokes which Alain published for our team. Not only is Alain an unforgettable force in technology development, but he is a decent human being. I’m very glad to have worked with him. 

Alain is a visionary of immense intelligence. At Motorola he "got" the Internet well before many people knew how to spell TCP-IP. His many contributions to the paging business at Motorola laid the groundwork for the "Q" device and many others including the Linux-Java powered smartphones. I never reported to Alain directly but always admired him.
