I live in a suburb outside of Seattle: Kirkland, Washington. I am married to a musician and have 2 school-aged daughters, 11 & 6. I describe myself as a feminist, birth companion, beach goer, music and the arts lover with a deep calling to give back to my community.
I was born in Northridge – a city in Southern California. I moved around a lot growing up, including attending four high schools in three different states. As my Dad worked his way up the corporate ladder, the family followed wherever there was opportunity.
Some of my most fond memories are going to the beach, dancing on drill team, family trips exploring different areas and learning about different cultures.
Balance is a tricky word. I’m a Libra and constantly striving to even the scales and find harmony in my life.
There have been times throughout my career where my professional life took over many aspects of my personal life and put me in a dark, resentful place. Working for a small business, wearing many hats and managing events for many years while my oldest was little had me miss out on many firsts. Luckily, I have an incredible support system and there was never a shortage of photos and videos to get me through those times when I was away from home travelling for work.
I have learned through experience that your mind and body do a good job at telling you quietly to slow down. If at first you don’t listen to that whisper, they will then scream at you and force you to listen. I’m much better at listening to my needs and setting firmer boundaries while also acknowledging how to better manage my time. When I’m with my family I am very present with them and strive to find those “sunset moments” because they are everywhere.
I have been practicing yoga for 15 years – I love it for the workout, but also for how it calms my mind. Meditation is another incredible tool as well as acupuncture. I also find comfort in cooking, growing my own food, going to the beach, talking things through with a close friend, listening to music and laughing with my daughters.
Eye contact, active listening, smile, a good handshake & remembering someone’s name.

I firmly believe we all have a calling or deeper draw that fuels us. It fuels our actions, our work, our relationships, our decision making. If more people spent time tuning into this and not letting fear or self-doubt get in the way imagine the happiness one would find. There is a way to find meaning in your work by tapping into your superpower and letting it shine.
People inspire me – their stories, their hearts, their pain – all of it.
My daughters motivate me to try to be the best version of myself each day. They teach me daily what it means to be brave, how to have fun and be silly and how to love fiercely.
Although it took me nearly six years, I put myself through college and worked full-time at a restaurant learning many roles ranging from host to bookkeeper to server to trainer to manager. After graduating college in 2002 with my Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Society, Ethics & Human Behavior, I began my career working in non-profit before being recruited by a dear friend to help her run her Dad’s company (Tri-Digital) in 2006.
Fast forward to today where I currently am the Director of Business Administration for Evia (formerly Tri-Digital). I have over 20 years of experience in the human resources, finance and business administration fields. I began with the company when there were only 5 employees and was an active contributor to the growth of the organization. I worked tirelessly to create a progressive culture for employees that pushed the boundaries of the traditional Monday through Friday, 8:00a – 5:00p work model and am a strong ally for equitable practices at Evia.
Under my HR leadership at Evia, the company has received several workplace recognition awards, including being named as one of Seattle’s 100 Best Companies to Work For three years in a row (2015, 2016, 2017), the prestigious When Work Works award (2016) and the Best & Brightest Companies to Work for In the Nation (2018 & 2019). I also played a critical part in Evia’s recent accomplishment of becoming Gender Equity Now Certified (2020).
I am the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) Committee Chair for the Lake Washington Human Resources Association (LWHRA). I am also the owner and operator of a Birth Doula business & a certified Doula through DONA International. Although I have been on somewhat of a hiatus from my birth work, it is still something that fuels me. I am a member of several professional organizations including the Society for Human Resources (SHRM), DONA International and PALS Doulas. At both Evia and through my work as a Doula, I am continuously working to support women in creating a positive work-life balance.
I think I’m using my degree just as it was intended to be used. The varied elements to my education have enabled me to be more engaged with the team and understand how to connect with them on a human level – not just through numbers and the bottom line.
Along with my sisters, I recently launched an online community after dealing with the complexities that come around with grief after losing my brother last year. I am actively involved in my daughters’ PTA. I describe myself as a team advocate, adaptive leader and committed to DE&I.
The event space is not for the faint of heart – it is grueling and stressful, but also beyond rewarding at the same time. The relief felt when an event concludes, and the celebration of its success is exhilarating.
What makes this industry even more unique is the technological element which makes planning and executing the events even more complicated and high pressure. The biggest piece of advice I have is to be sure there are contingency plans in place. As a best practice thorough documentation of testing and validation should also be implemented because when you add technology to the mix of an already complex deliverable it is inevitable that some piece of it will fail.
Don’t get discouraged and know that it’s ok to take a break (for your mental health) or shift focus if something isn’t working – be agile
Be prepared to learn a tremendous amount and know at times you will fail along the way
Be kind to your employees and put them first – have compassion
Be empathetic & an active listener
A little laughter and fun also go a long way
The good news is that I work in the technology sector and we are always innovating in this space. We are at the forefront of some incredible work with Artificial Intelligence. Evia services our clients with digital events and robust media distribution offerings. Our Evia Player™ which launched earlier this month uses Machine Language and Artificial Intelligence to make content more accessible, noticeable and engaging. One of the amazing features is our ability to have up to 54 languages available for closed captioning and transcription. This helps in engaging your global audience and increases the viewership of your content.
