To me, work/life balance does not exist. I don’t believe therewill ever be a prolonged period of time where everything matches perfectly. It is about prioritization. I do my best to put my time and energy toward what is a priority. That priority shifts daily, sometimes even quicker. I learned this from a mentor of mine. Its quite simple, sometimes professional work wins and sometimes personal life and family wins. Everyday, I wake up and prioritize what is most important.
I recently founded my own business with one goal - to help our planet prosper. It is called Park Market & Refillery and we aim to eliminate single-use plastic and packaging bypromoting a circular economy for consumers and businesses. We are a pop-up and delivery-based refillery for home and body care products without single-use plastic and packaging.
Absolutely, I have advice for millennials seeking leadership roles. Do you boss’s job for them, until they give it to you. Simple as that. Make their life as easy as possible. Bring them solutions, not problems. Bring them ideas, not frustration. Bring them support, not issues. If you can do that, you’ll be on your way to a leadership role. It is about working hard, effective communication and showing you can do that job, sometimes before you necessarily have it.
