My transition from hospitality to executive coaching was driven by a desire to make a deeper, more personal impact on individuals. While running Indra Inn, I discovered my passion for helping others through conversation and support, particularly in guiding men towards a healthier, more balanced life. Coaching allows me to extend that support beyond the boundaries of the hotel and into the broader business community.
Working in diverse cultural settings like Thailand, Spain, and Costa Rica has profoundly shaped my professional approach. It has taught me the importance of adaptability, empathy, and intercultural communication. These experiences have enabled me to connect with clients from various backgrounds and tailor my coaching methods to meet their unique needs and perspectives.
The communication skills I honed as an English and business teacher, combined with the customer service and management experience from running Indra Inn, have been invaluable in my coaching practice. These roles taught me how to listen actively, understand different perspectives, and provide guidance that is both practical and empathetic.
One significant challenge was the steep learning curve when I first took over Indra Inn. Managing a hotel involved juggling numerous responsibilities, from guest relations to operations and marketing. I overcame this by staying focused on the guest experience, learning from every mistake, and continuously improving the efficiency and atmosphere of the inn. This experience taught me resilience and the importance of a positive mindset.
The most rewarding aspect of my career has been witnessing the transformation in my coaching clients. Seeing men achieve a better work-life balance, improve their relationships, and increase their business success brings me a great sense of fulfillment. It confirms that I’m on the right path, helping others lead more harmonious lives.
I stay updated by continuously educating myself through reading, attending workshops, and engaging with other professionals in the coaching industry. I also place a strong emphasis on self-reflection and feedback from my clients, which helps me to adapt and improve my coaching techniques. Additionally, I draw inspiration from the natural surroundings of Costa Rica, which reinforces my belief in the importance of balance and mindfulness in both personal and professional life.
